About Being Different...
The Rose & Tail Club was born from a bold idea — to reimagine what a bar and lounge could be. Brought to life by husband-and-wife duo Jonathon and Rocio Hernandez, owners of The Black Rabbit and Vida Beauty & Wellness, this latest venture is a love letter to luxury, storytelling, and sensory escape.
After the wildly successful design of Vida in 2023, created by local creative director and conceptual photographer Shannon Lea Rock, the Hernandez’s knew she was the perfect match to help bring their next dream to life. With a shared passion for creating experiences that feel deeply personal and entirely transportive, the team set out to build a space unlike anything else in the Central Valley.
Shannon, known for her cinematic approach to visual storytelling, imagined a place that felt like stepping into a film — equal parts mid-century modern, art deco glam, and underground speakeasy. Inspired by the richly stylized worlds of Wes Anderson, she infused every inch of the space with nostalgic charm, curated detail, and whimsical intrigue. It’s not just a bar. It’s a stage. A sanctuary. A secret worth sharing.
But this isn’t just a pretty place. It’s a luxurious haven in an unlikely location — exactly as a speakeasy should be. Every detail was thoughtfully designed to invite both indulgence and intimacy, where elegance meets eccentricity and every visit feels like a scene worth savoring. As the project expanded beyond its original vision, local builder and now partner Rocky was brought in to help carry the space across the finish line.
Of course, no vision is complete without a dream team behind it. At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Karie, our fearless flavor queen, known for her fierce style and bold palate. From eclectic bites to unforgettable plates, she’s the creative force behind each crave-worthy dish that graces your table.
And behind the bar? MJ Maroulis, a master mixologist whose background includes working in Michelin-rated restaurants. With unmatched artistry and innovation, MJ crafts cocktails that go beyond drinks — they’re stories in a glass. Whether it's a smoky sip, a herbaceous surprise, or an unexpected twist, every creation is designed to awaken your senses.
Together, Jonathon, Rocio, Rocky, Shannon, Karie, and MJ have created something extraordinary.
